The PM7000 Simulator runs on a PC and can communicate over a bluetooth link
with a PDA. This provides an valuable training and demonstration tool for existing
or prospective users of the PM7000.
This application note gives
the procedure to setup and run the PM7000 Simulator when using a Bluetooth link
to a PDA.
For the LinkSys USBBT100 Bluetooth adaptor, Windows XP Service Pack 2 is
required.
For the Kensington #33085 Bluetooth adaptor, Windows XP Service Pack 1
or 2 is required,
Use with Windows 2000,
Windows ME and Windows 98 is not recommended. Operation with these operating
systems is dependent upon the quality of the drivers supplied by the manufacturer
of the USB to Bluetooth adaptor. Problems have been experienced in the
past with the supplied drivers.
How to find out if Windows XP service pack 2 is installed ?
Windows Mobile 2003 (sometimes referred to as Pocket PC 4.20),
Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition
(sometimes referred to as Pocket PC 4.21)
Windows Mobile 5.0 (sometimes
referred to as Pocket PC 5.0).
How to find out which operating system is on your PDA ?
You will need a copy of the following two files on your computer,
PM7000.exe,
the Simulator application.
PMStart.exe, the setup and launch utility for Simulators.
You will need a copy of the following application installed on your
PDA,
PmScreen.exe, see APPNOTE:
Installing
PmScreen on a PDA
(Note that this PmScreen.exe is the one supplied
with the Simulator files and is not the same as the PmScreen.exe installed with
Pronto for Windows).
You will need a USB to Bluetooth adaptor.

Click on the Start button then select Control Panel.
On
the Control Panel open the Help menu and select the item About
Windows.
On the About Windows dialog find the second line of text
starting with Version 5.1 (build .... and it will end with the text :
Service Pack 2).
On the Start screen of your PDA click on the Start button then select Settings from the menu. On the System tab select the item About.
